Channel 4 News - Covid-19 testing

Hello

I’m a journalist at Channel 4 News. We’re working on a report about what kind of access people who have a learning disability diagnosis, and live in supported living, have to Covid-19 testing.

Have you been able to get a test when you had symptoms? Have you and all your housemates been able to get tests to see if anyone in supported living is Covid-19? Have you been refused a test, or not been able to complete the online form?

If you or a loved one is in this position, I’d very much like to hear from you. You can email me on janet.eastham@itn.co.uk.

Thanks so much for letting me post here, let me know if I need to make any changes to this post.

Welcome Janet! Thanks for your post.

My own experience wth my son, who is in residential care, is that he is now accessing testing, using the lateral flow testing. He finds it difficult to cope with the test, but the staff have mananged to get nasal swabs done. The staff at his home have been tested for some time, initially with the provider buying their own kits to test the staff, but now they are getting a supply of lateral flow test kits, through the local Public Health services.
As family members, we had to arrange our own tests in order to spend time together at Christmas.
