Nature is fun, nature is good for us, let’s make sure it’s accessible to all!

Take part now! Find out how good your local ponds, streams and ditches are for wildlife, while helping to develop more inclusive citizen science surveys.

Across the country volunteers can now use free, quick and simple Clean Water Kits to find amazing ‘clean’ water, where wildlife can thrive. The kits rapidly measure the levels of two widespread nutrient pollutants, nitrate and phosphate and have made it possible for us all to ‘see’ nutrient pollution through a simple colour change reaction. They offer a fantastic opportunity to learn more about your local ponds, streams and rivers, while contributing to current scientific research.

We are currently looking for groups and individuals to help us develop this citizen science survey to make it more accessible to those who may face barriers to taking part due to limited access to nature, or those with disabilities. We aim to ensure that everyone has equal opportunities to access nature, including their freshwater heritage.

We need you to take part and tell us what worked, what resources would have been helpful and what could be improved. The survey is open to individuals, groups and schools. Groups and schools can even sign up for their own activity boxes.
