New report on eye care for people with learning disabilities and petition

I’m attaching a link to the report we launched last week called Delivering an equal right to sight. More can be found at www.seeability.org/equalrighttosight which includes an Easy Read version of the report and more on how to support our campaign.

The report finds that people with learning disabilities experience alarmingly high levels of sight problems but unequal access to eye care.

It highlights some of the good work that is also going on in local areas to address these issues. It also gives links to some of SeeAbility’s Easy Read resources on eye care and having a sight test too, please feel free to use!

However it also says national change is needed for a more inclusive system of eye care for adults and children with learning disabilities, for example in special schools, and for all working age adults with learning disabilities to be eligible for NHS funded sight tests.

For social media we are using the hashtag #equalrighttosight

We’ve also got a petition going on the parliament website and are looking for signatures to this too! https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/133239

Thank you and best wishes.
