OSKA BRIGHT FILM FESTIVAL OPEN FOR ENTRIES
“Oska Bright gives learning disabled people the chance to show their films to audiences around the world” says Director Becky Bruzas.
Becky has been involved with Oska Bright, the leading international festival of films made by learning disabled people, for five years and recently became its first director. She is passionate about the festival “I love the work we do and I like to believe we are changing things – even if it’s just a tiny bit.”
The festival takes place every other year and the next one is this November. That means Becky and her team are calling out for films to consider for the festival and she needs them by 30th April 2017.
What is Oska Bright looking for? It mainly shows short films but longer length films can be entered too, and they must be either made by or feature someone with a learning disability. At the previous festival 60 films were screened, from 11 different countries. Awards were presented by representatives from Warner Brothers, the BFI, Adult Swim and film director Andrea Arnold OBE, amongst others. Nearly three thousand people came to the festival over three days in Brighton.
