Scotland's national Learning Disability Week, 15th May - 21st May 2017

We have received the following email from the Scottish Commission for Learning Disability:

"Scotland’s national Learning Disability Week begins on Monday 15th May!

Up to 175,000 adults in Scotland have a learning disability. However, we rarely see or hear about the experiences of this population. Next week, let’s make sure these voices are heard.

The theme this year is Looking back, thinking forward: Learning disability in Scotland’s past, present and future. We want people, communities and organisations across the country to reflect on how the lives of people with learning disabilities in Scotland have changed over the years, and to share their story.

By bringing these stories to the attention of a wider audience, we aim to raise awareness of the issues faced by people with learning disabilities in Scotland’s past and present and to think about how we can work towards building a better future.

So whether you are fundraising at a coffee day, raising awareness of issues in your local area, celebrating a special individual or organisation, or dancing the night away at a party - make sure you shout about it!"
