The Challenging Behaviour Foundation’s Spring Newsletter is out now and is available in hardcopy, online and via email. This spring edition focuses on the Care Act, which first launched in April 2015. One year on from the launch, this edition of ‘Challenge’ explores what the Act should be delivering for families, and what challenges it presents for Local Authorities.
“Words on paper are important, but it is translating them into action that makes a real difference to people’s lives – and that is the challenge."
-Vivien Cooper, CEO of the Challenging Behaviour Foundation
The newsletter includes an introduction to the Care Act, as well as in-depth articles about personal budgets and about how to get the best from a carer’s assessment. Alex Rook, a public law expert, explains in our lead story how to challenge a decision made by a Local Authority. We also hear from a family carer, who gives her perspective on the Care Act, and her hopes for how it will affect her family in future.
This edition of the newsletter also contains information about new resources from the Challenging Behaviour Foundation, including videos, information sheets and FAQs. The newsletter also features a book review of the latest edition of ‘Disabled Children: A Legal Handbook’, and a guide to our brand new website ‘Paving the Way’ (a joint project with the Council for Disabled Children).
You can read the full version of the newsletter online using issuu, or by downloading the PDF from our website. You can sign up to an electronic version here or email email@example.com with your address to request a hard copy.
