World Down Syndrome Congress, Glasgow, 24-27th July 2018

We have received the following email:

Dear All,

Down’s Syndrome Scotland, on behalf of Down Syndrome International, will
be hosting the 13th triennial World Down SyndromeCongress (WDSC) in
Glasgow, Scotland from 24-27th July 2018. As many of you know, Glasgow is
a beautiful, friendly city and a great starting point for a Scottish
holiday - so save the date and start making plans?

More than 1000 practitioners, families and researchers from around the
world are expected at the Congress in the Scottish Exhibition and
Conference Centre. The WDSC audience is typically made up of researchers
from a wide range of fields, practitioners from the many interlinking
professions supporting children and adults with Down’s syndrome, and people
with Down syndrome and their families. Confirmed keynote speakers to date
includeDr Deborah Fidler, Dr Mike Guralnick, Professor Tony Holland and
Professor Roy McConkey.

The call for abstracts will open in May 2017. We invite submissions of
findings from both recent studies and studies still in progress. Case
study reports are welcome, as are overviews of previous clinical or
empirical work and symposia proposals, especially those focusing on the
practical implications of recent findings.

If a formal letter of invitation would help in sourcing funding to attend
WDSC, we would be happy to provide one; we can also fast-track our
peer-review process if that would be helpful. As charities, DSS and DSI
unfortunately have no funds to underwrite WDSC attendance but we would be
very pleased to assist you in any other way we can.

To register your interest and to receive updates, please visit:
www.wdsc2018.org.uk

If you need more information now, please don’t hesitate to get back in
touch. Please forward this email to anyone else you think might be
interested in attending WDSC. That would be really appreciated.

I do hope you’ll be able to make it!

Best wishes,
Andrew
