Carers discount card

can anyone tell me if such a card exists and in what part of the country and what discounts you can get. Also could it be possible for a national carers discount card be available through the financing of local authorities and local and national businesses. any info welcome. you can PM me directly
thanks

I am aware of a few such such discount cards.

Firstly, a few local carers centres/organisations have their own. Here are a couple of examples:

http://www.carersinbeds.org.uk/discountcard.html
https://www.cftc.org.uk/get-a-carers-card

Some appear to have backing from local authorities.

Two other national ones I’m aware of are:

The Max Card http://www.mymaxcard.co.uk/

They give the following description of their card:

The Max Card is a discount card for foster families and families of children with additional needs. Families simply show their Max Card upon entry to a venue in order to obtain free or discounted admission.

The scheme is designed to help these families save money on great days out at castles, zoos, bowling alleys and more.

We aim to provide a sense of community through stimulating learning experiences and enjoyable days out for everyone.

We work with local authorities and selected charities, who administer the cards to eligible families in their areas.

If your local authority is not listed on our partners section, or you know a charity who would be happy to help, please point them in our direction. We’re always on the look out for new local authorities and charities to join us, so that more families can benefit from our worthwhile scheme!

There is also a scheme from the Carers Trust called Care Smart: https://www.carersmart.org

When the Carers Trust launched it the released the following press release: https://www.carers.org/news/new-discount-club-launched-carers

They advertise the scheme with the following blurb:

CarerSmart is a new club from Carers Trust, the UK’s largest carers charity, and is open to carers, people with care needs and staff and volunteers across the Carers Trust network.

Joining is easy and free, once you’re a member, you can benefit from a wide range of offers including:

Cash back on shopping from numerous high street retailers.
Best rates from energy providers.
Reductions on insurance renewals.
Discounts on holidays and travel arrangements.
Reduced price lifestyle activities.
Free legal advice services.
And much much more . . . there really is something for everyone.

I personally think it needs to come with a bit of a health warning as it appears to be a business introduction scheme run by a private company who I presume are getting a commission on the sales made through the carers smart website. Therefore it is always worth checking if it is the cheapest place to buy what one wants to buy.

I have seen recently a carers card but the annual cost to me outweighed the benefits
