Hi. We all know that Positive Risk Management means risk assessing in partnership with people with learning disabilities. Does anyone have any easier read documents to support this, such as a policy or forms? Thanks.

Hi – a good question. I appreciate the value of Easy-Read and have assembled a collection of 250+ Easy Read leaflets at http://peterbates.org.uk/home/linking-disabled-people-and-communities/easy-read-information-about-mental-health/. But a positive risk taking approach is likely to change our approach to risk and not just improve our communication of it. So, for example, we looked at some risk assessment documents used for outings from care homes and found that they concentrated on seat belts and sick bags, rather than the opportunities afforded by the outing to have fun and make friends with other citizens.
