United Response have published three easy read booklets designed to make politics and voting easier to understand for people with learning disabilities. They’ve brought them up-to-date for the 2017 general election.
(1) How politics affects your life – this booklet explains how the law works, the basic rights of all people and how these things impact our lives on a daily basis. It aims to encourage discussion around how politics affects specific areas of people’s lives and interests.

(2) How politics works – this booklet explains how the UK is run and looks at the role of different politicians who work at a local, national or European level. It includes updated information on what the UK’s vote to leave the European Union means.

(3) How to get involved in politics – this booklet outlines the different ways people can get involved in politics, including joining a political party and campaigning. Most crucially, it explains it outlines the voting process in different elections and explains how to vote.
