Free arts workshops at the Royal College of Nursing for adults with a learning disability (July - September 2022)

I’m emailing to let you know about an exhibition and series of events we have planned to mark 100+ years of learning disability nursing. The small exhibition is free to attend during RCN Library and Heritage Centre opening hours (10am – 7pm weekdays, 10am – 5pm Saturdays), and an easy read version is available online and in the exhibition space.

We’ve got a lively accompanying programme of events, and have recently listed a series of three free arts workshops aimed at adults who identify as having a learning disability and/or autism. All three will take place at our central London HQ at 20 Cavendish Square (5 minutes’ walk from Oxford Street and Bond Street underground stations) and will respond to the themes of the exhibition:

Wednesday 20 July, 13:30 – 16:00

Fun and imaginative movement workshop with dance company Corali. Book here:

Thursday 18 August 13:00 – 15:30

Games and activities with theatre company Access All Areas, exploring what it would have been like to live in a long stay hospital. Book here:

Tuesday 13 September 14:00 – 16:00

Flag-making workshop and parade with ActionSpace. Book here:

We would be very grateful if you could share the links with anyone who may be interested, and would be happy to provide further information.

Best wishes,
