Has anyone come across this trend - a persons savings is getting close to the limit before it affects their benefits so a funeral is planned and paid for for them. I know we need to think about these things especially for those people with no next of kin but surely people could come up with a more creative way to spend the money, something that the person will be there to enjoy…
I’m rather amazed to hear about this.
Who is making the decisions about this? Is it the person with learning disabilities? or is it staff members? How many people is this happening to?
I’ve heard many times about people being encouraged to spend money to keep under benefit limits but I must say this is a new one on me!
