Funeral Planning and people with learning disabilities - a sensible idea or a depressing use of funds

Has anyone come across this trend - a persons savings is getting close to the limit before it affects their benefits so a funeral is planned and paid for for them. I’m rather amazed to hear about this.

Who is making the decisions about this? Is it the person with learning disabilities? or is it staff members? How many people is this happening to?

I’ve heard many times about people being encouraged to spend money to keep under benefit limits but I must say this is a new one on me!
