New publication about Preventable Emergency Hospital Admissions Among Adults With Intellectual Disability in England

Researchers at St Georges University of London have published new research about preventable emergency hospital admissions among adults with learning disabilities in England.

One interesting finding is that while adults with learning disabilities were more than twice as likely to have an emergency hospital admission, they were five times more likely to be admitted for conditions where more effective management in primary care may have prevented the hospitalisation, such as urinary tract and respiratory infections.
