Hello, my name is Jillian Pawlyn, and I am a doctoral researcher with the Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies (WELS) at The Open University.
I am carrying out research with parent carers of young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities/profound intellectual and multiple disabilities (PMLD/PIMD) in England to explore their experiences during their child’s transition from child to adult health and social care services.
I am being supervised by Professor Elizabeth Tilley and Dr Wendy Turner, Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies (WELS) at The Open University.
My research will give insight into the parent carer’s transition experience to reduce the knowledge gap surrounding this life experience.
If you are a parent carers of young adults (18 to 25 years) with PMLD/PIMD in England. and the transition occurred between 2014 and 2024; please consider taking part in my study.
