Research around growing older

The University of Dundee, Liverpool John Moores University, the University of Edinburgh, and the University of Hertfordshire are running the IncludeAge project. This project aims to find out about the community spaces that older people with learning disabilities and older people who are LGBTQ+ use in their everyday lives. This includes the offline and the online places that people use.

We are looking for middle-aged to older (40+) people who are LGBT+ and / or who have a learning disability, to take part in a study exploring their experiences of inclusion, belonging, and community throughout their lives.

We hope that this research will be able to help develop policy and other practical suggestions for change to enable middle-to-older aged people with learning disabilities and LGBT+ people to feel more included, wherever they are.

You can find out more about what taking part would involve here. Anyone who is interested can send back a form with their details so they can find out more. This does not mean they have agreed to take part.

The research is funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and is running from 2022-2026, and has received university ethical approval [UOD-SREC-SHSC-2023-20].
