Research opportunity for family carers of adults with learning disabilities

Hello!

My name is Jillian Powell. I am a researcher based at The University of Bristol. I am looking for families who provide support to an adult relative with learning disabilities in homes in England to take part in a research project. The aim of the project is to explore what support is currently available to families and identify where support needs of both carers and their relative have changed or are not being met. I will then work with social care professionals to develop methods for earlier identification of families’ support needs before these escalate to much bigger problems such as carer burnout.

The project involves me visiting you at home and doing an interview using a diagram to map out support networks. It takes around 90 minutes and you will get a £20 shopping voucher to thank you for taking part. The interview would be confidential and will not affect any services you currently receive.

If you would like some more information please drop me a line at jill.powell@bristol.ac.uk

Looking forward to hearing from you!
Jill
