SHLD Conference Postponed until next year

The next Social History of Learning Disability Conference will be held at the Open University in Milton Keynes on 14th and 15th July 2020.

The theme of the conference is Loss and Remembering. You can find some more information about the conference here. This explains the conference theme and how you can send in your ideas for presentations.

Please submit your idea for a presentation by Monday 13th March 2020 to:

Adwowa Larbi-Ntim at Shld-conference@open.ac.uk or by post to the Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies, The Open University, Milton Keynes, MK7 6AA.

Guidance for writing an accessible presentation and summary (or ‘abstract’) can be found here.

Following a meeting of the SHLD conference committee, in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the decision has been made to postpone this year’s conference. The conference will instead be held in July 2021, and will retain the theme of ‘loss and remembering’.

We will re-launch the conference in the Autumn with new dates.

We realise this is a challenging and worrying time for everyone. We hope you are well and keeping safe, and look forward to being in touch later in the year.

With best wishes

Liz Tilley and Ian Davies, on behalf of the SHLD conference committee
