Two new Policy roles at the CBF

The Challenging Behaviour Foundation (CBF) is a unique UK charity focussed on the needs of children, young people and adults with a severe learning disability whose behaviour may challenge and their families. We believe that with the right support, in the right place, at the right time everyone can lead a full and active life. We are a family carer led organisation, engaging families at all levels of our work.

We are looking to recruit an Adult Policy Lead and a Policy Officer to support the CBF’s National Strategy work. Both roles will need to influence a diverse range of stakeholders to deliver meaningful change for this marginalised group.

Job Title: Adult Policy Lead
Location: Chatham, Kent (possibility of home working for the right candidate)
Salary: Circa £33,000 (pro rata)
Job Level: Management
Hours: 22.5 hours per week
Contract: Fixed Term (to be reviewed after one year with the possibility of becoming permanent)

Job Title: Policy Officer

Salary: £23,000
Hours: Full Time
Contract: Fixed Term (to be reviewed after one year with the possibility of becoming permanent)

These are new roles working within the Family Support and Policy Team

  • You will use your knowledge of learning disability policy and influencing skills to transform support and services for children, young people and adults with learning disabilities whose behaviour challenges and their families

  • You will motivate, influence and support a range of stakeholders to change how they deliver local support to ensure good outcomes

  • You will need to be resourceful, self-motivated, organised and able to work under pressure and to deadlines. These are demanding but rewarding roles in a small and friendly charity that is outcome focussed.

The CBF formed and chairs the Challenging Behaviour – National Strategy Group CB-NSG which is an action focused group that works together to break down the barriers to enable children, young people and adults to get the right support to have a good life. These roles lead on co-ordinating and supporting this group and its activities.

Both roles will be based in Chatham, Kent but there will be a requirement to travel to meetings in London on a frequent basis and the rest of the country on an occasional basis. The office has good road links with the M2 and M20 and is within walking distance of the train station with a high speed link to London. Home working will be considered for the right candidate in the Adult Policy Lead role.
