Use of music and internet clips in virtual sessions & meetings

Hello everyone

As with most groups, we are now exploring virtual sessions, meetings and training to support our customers with learning disabilities and staff during lockdown and beyond.

Someone has mentioned the possible need for licences/permission around the use of YouTube, internet and music clips in virtual sessions and meetings.

Has anyone explored this and found a solution?

Phil

As it happens, Southwell Diocese (part of the Church of England) is running a free online training session for its churches on exactly this question on 25 Feb 2pm to 4pm. You might be able to hop on board. Contact catriona@southwell.anglican.org for more information.

Hi Jekabs

This might be helpful…

I’m going to contact Catriona to see if I can join. Are you interested too?

Best wishes

Phil

Hi Phil

There’s lots of licence-free music websites around such as audiohub the main caveat is that you use their copyright or attribute the website etc

I’ve published Youtube videos with music by other artists in the video and have received emails from Youtube saying:

"A copyright owner using Content ID claimed some material in your video.

This is just a heads up. Don’t worry. You’re not in trouble and your account standing is not affected by this.

There are either ads running on your video, with the revenue going to the copyright owner, or the copyright owner is receiving stats about your video’s views.

What’s next?
If there are no problems, you don’t need to take any action. You don’t need to delete your video."

And I’ve never had any come back. So I wouldn’t worry unduly about using songs that your members really like and then publishing a video on Youtube of the session so that other members/people can view it.

Hope this is useful

If you do get anything useful could you post it here - especially about free-to-use music (and other resources) - I am sure there are many forum users who would be interested - thank you. Jeff.
