Learning Disability Aspiring Leaders Fellowship

The Foundation of Nursing Studies (FONS) has announced a Creating Caring Cultures Fellowship for aspiring leaders and early career frontline Registered Learning Disability Nurses (December 2020)

An exciting new development opportunity for aspiring leaders and early career frontline registered learning disability nurses:

  • structured around the FoNS Creating Caring Cultures model
  • open to RNLDs who are between 1-3 years post qualification at the start of the programme (working in any health or care setting - England only)
  • includes virtual workshops (cohort 1: 12 January 2021 - 24 March 2021), follow up facilitated active learning sessions (April - September 2021), mentorship within the organisation, mentorship at a regional/national level (career planning) and a small bursary

FoNS will support participants to begin their leadership journey by creating opportunities and space for reflection, discovery and learning. The programme (funded by The Burdett Trust for Nursing and NHSE/I) will equip participants with the skills and confidence to develop into the facilitative leaders of the future. It includes mentorship and coaching support at a local and regional/national level as well as personal development planning and will enable participants to realise their leadership aspirations and develop leadership capacity within organisations.

Subsequent cohorts will run as follows:

  • Cohort 2: April-December 2021
  • Cohort 3: September 2021-April 2022
  • Cohort 4: October 2021-May 2022
